Savvy Coupon Lady Monthly Totals

I can hardly believe another month has passed!  We had a busy month.  Every year about this time I’m ready for school to be over because it seems like our kids are sick constantly, and with 4 of them, it just runs a constant cycle.  Thank goodness I was able to stock up on some Lysol products this month! teeheehee! For those of you that have been following me thing month, you know that I have really changed my eating habits and am purchasing a lot of protein, meat and produce.  I’m a little nervous to put this post together, because I am 99.9% sure I blew my budget this month.   We bought some bulk protein powder this month which is a big expense up front, but we won’t have to make that purchase again for several months.  That right there, just about killed my entire month’s budget.  For our family of 6 my monthly budget for groceries, household care items and personal care items is $550.  My personal goal each month has been to keep it at around $350, which I have to say I’ve been pretty successful at.  Thank goodness I got our youngest potty trained this month.  Now we only use 1 diaper each night….huge help this month! Below is a list of everything I purchased this month and how much I spent and saved.  Feel free to head over and check out the actual Show & Tell of these purchases (not every purchase is in a show & tell). Make sure to check out my reaction to my totals at the bottom of this post. :-)

Grand Total Spent April 2012: $472.83 (HOLY MOLY….I managed to stay under budget…WOOOHOOOT!!!)
Grand Total Saved April 2012: $510.27
Total Percentage Saved in April: 51.9%

I’m SOOOO  excited, and incredibly shocked that I stayed within budget. That included an Easter Meal too! I’m even more thrilled that I was able to purchase all of the protein, meat and produce we did this month and still managed to save a little over 50%!!! VERY encouraging!!  I was worried that my change of diet/lifestyle would greatly effect our monthly budget…but it turned out ok. Now, granted I am used to only spending $300 – $400 each month, so in that respect it did change our monthly spending, but I’m still $77 under budget. How did you all do this month? I’d love to hear your totals!
